My story
From unsupported mother to empowering doula
My journey into birth work began with my own births and the profound difference between feeling powerless and feeling supported.
Why I became a doula
Hello, my name is Khalilah Wise. I am a Full Spectrum Doula and the proud mother of two wonderful children.
My journey to becoming a doula began with the birth of my son, Samuel, who was born at home. His birth was my second pregnancy, and it was a completely different experience from my first. During my first pregnancy with my daughter, Gianna, I was induced and followed every recommendation because I didn't know I had options or that I could make choices about my birth experience.
Having a home birth opened my eyes to the power of informed decision-making and the importance of having choices. That experience inspired me to become a doula.
I am passionate about providing compassionate, nonjudgmental support to birthing people and their families. I understand what it feels like to be unsupported, unheard, and unaware of how to advocate for yourself during pregnancy and labor process. When you are not informed or supported, it can be difficult to express your needs and preferences during one of the most important moments of your life.
Birth is a deeply personal and transformative experience for both the birthing person and their partner. Through evidence-based education, emotional support, and advocacy, I help families feel confident, informed, and empowered throughout their pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. I also work with partners to build the knowledge and tools they need to provide meaningful support and advocate alongside their loved one.
My mission is to ensure that every family I serve feels seen, heard, respected, and empowered to make informed decisions that align with their values and birth goals. Every birthing person deserves compassionate care, informed choices, and unwavering support throughout their journey.
What is a Full Spectrum Doula?
A Full Spectrum Doula provides support across the entire spectrum of pregnancy experiences, not just traditional birth. This includes prenatal care, labor and birth, postpartum recovery, as well as pregnancy loss, miscarriage, abortion, and adoption.
Full Spectrum Doulas recognize that every pregnancy journey is unique and valid. Whether your experience is joyful, complex, or somewhere in between, a Full Spectrum Doula offers compassionate, nonjudgmental support tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.
As a Full Spectrum Doula, I am here to support you wherever you are on your journey, with care, dignity, and respect for your choices.
My approach
Birth work rooted in choice, knowledge, and presence
You always have a choice
My first birth taught me what it feels like to not know your options. I make sure every client I work with understands their rights, their choices, and their power at every stage.
Advocacy starts with education
When you understand what's happening in your body and what your options are, you can speak up with confidence. I provide evidence-based information so you can make informed decisions.
Presence is the most powerful tool
Studies show that continuous support during labor improves outcomes. I stay with you, not just in spirit, but physically present from early labor through the first hours after birth.
Every birth story matters
Whether you're planning a home birth, a hospital birth, a medicated birth, or a cesarean, your birth is yours. I support your vision without judgment, and I honor every path.
